Choir Activities for 2023 can be seen here
The Eisteddfod Choral Showcase took place at St. Helier Methodist Centre on Wednesday 13 th March 2024 when the Festival Choir appeared along with a number of other local choirs. The choir sang the following: ‘Gloria in excelsis Deo’ from Vivaldi’s Gloria ‘Lullaby’ from Three Nocturnes by Daniel Elder ‘Proclaim the Lord’ words by Laura Kate Collum and music by Ruth Ann Somervell
27 th April 2024: Spring Concert.at St Helier Methodist Centre 2024 is the centenary of the death of Charles Villiers Stanford and the 200th Anniversary of the RNLI. As such, our programme had a nautical flavour when we includied his ‘Songs of the Fleet’ in the programme. The collection from the small but generous audience raised £668.69 for the RNLI.
14 th December 2024: Shelter Trust Soup Kitchen The choir once again supported the annual fund raising of the Shelter Trust by singing at the Soup Kitchen in the Royal Square - 40 different soups were provided by local hotels, restauarants etc and the event was a great success.
18 th December 2024: Festival of Carols: St Thomas Church The choir once again organised the Festival of Carols at St Thomas Church, ably supported by the Holmchase Singers and St Cecilia Orchestra and the event was a great success. The programme for the event can be found here
The choir Annual Dinner took place on March 2nd 2025 at the Ambassador Hotel in St. Clement. The hotel did a great job in looking after us and it was a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon.
The 2025 Spring Concert on the 3rd of May was a bit different to our normal annual event; we teamed up with the Jersey Island Singers and the St Cecilia Orchestra to present a Liberation Concert to celebrate 80 years of freedom. The concert started and concluded with two hymns that would have been familiar in 1945. The first half featured individual items (Festival Choir sang Movement IV from Dona Nobis Pacem by Vaughan Williams) with everyone coming together in the second half to sing Messa di Gloria by Giacomo Puccini. The concert was conducted by Francis Murton with soloists Greg Tassell, Tenor, and Themba Mvula, Baritone. Concert Poster here
